Description: Get to know the friendly, historic neighborhood of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, situated on the “Lower East Side” of Prospect Park. We’ll peruse some beautiful brownstones, intersections of interest, community art projects and great green spaces that have made little PLG a gem of a district for generations of residents and passers-by. See where a train went off the tracks in 1918, streets that are being re-imagined today and stately 19th century homes that still stand.

Join BBG, Prospect Park, and NYC Million Trees for aday of much needed beautification along Flatbush Ave.  Volunteers will be led by BBG and NYC Tree Stewards tolearn about proper street tree care and will get to put their skills to work on the numerous trees along Flatbush Ave. Volunteers will also get to spruce up the streets by pickingup litter and weeding.  All are welcome to be a part of this funfilled and educational day!

Spring finds many of us out and about on our bikes.... Which are prime targets for many thieves. Officer Silverstein will engrave your bike with an NYPD serial number...a pretty cool thing for kids' bikes. The NYPD retrieves thousands of stolen bikes every year. Registering your bike will increases your chances of getting your bike back if it's stolen. It's an important way to protect your property! PUT IT IN YOUR CALENDAR!!!

Hello PLG Community, 

The Prospect Lefferts Gardens CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is officially open for New Member enrollment (New Members means those who were not members last year). We are continuing to accept Returning Member Registrations as well. 

This is going to be an exciting year for the PLG CSA, as we are working with a wonderful new farmer (The Farm at Miller's Crossing) from upstate New York. Miller's currently services the Flatbush Farm CSA nearby as well, and has a strong record in providing quality, fresh, organic produce to its CSAs for a reasonable cost. 

In addition to vegetables, we will continue to offer subscriptions for fruit from Breezy Hill Orchards, eggs and fresh homemade pasta from Knoll Krest Farm, artisanal Cheese from Cricket Creek Farms, and meat (Beef/Pork/Lamb/Chicken options) from Herondale Farm. Local Farm, Local Food.

Visitors to the store are always asking me about the public elementary schools in our neighborhood, Prospect Lefferts Gardens. I'm very far from an expert; my kid is only 3 and I have little direct experience with any of the schools. But I thought it might be helpful to jot down what I do know, in the hopes that it might help a few parents who are interested.

Senator Adams will be hosting a safety meeting On Monday November 21st at his office on Flatbush between Midwood and Maple Streets to meet with, SW24, the private security camera company and to discuss the Civilian Observation Patrol with the police.

Ben Edwards and Matthew W are taking applications for the COP program and we need more participants ASAP. We feel these two topics will be of great interest and we highly recommend participation. I believe the meeting will be held after work starting around 630pm on Monday but details will be confirmed shortly.
